|
|
I am thinking about getting a kicker for my boat as a backup in case I have trouble with the sportjet. What hp do you guys think and what would be the best way to mount to a 16ft Lynx with a half swim grid so that it won't interfer with the stomp grate. I really like like the looks of the pivoting Alicraft and ex welding mounts. Anybody ever used one on a Lynx? Thanks

Anyting more than 15HP will be difficult to move around. Anything less than 8/9 hp will be too little power.
The idea is that it should be lightweight. Since two strokes engines are not offered any more, the four stroke outboards are significantly heavier.
These are the weights of the current Mercury 4 stroke offerings. (As a note, any Japanese ie HONDA/ YAMAHA engine will be better than Mercury), but weights are similar:
15 HP: 61kg/135 lb
9 HP: 44kg /96 lb

If i were you, I would go for a 4stroke 6 hp Merc . Only 55 lbs and all you need for a 16' and 35 lbs lighter than an 8 hp.

I ordered the pivoting kicker mount from Exact Welding and picked up a 2010 Suzuki 6hp for a real good price, I will post pics and let everybody know what I think when I get them mounted. Thanks everybody.

Kicker should be at least 250 H.P. and supercharged!
You will never truly be happy with anything less!

Had to make some new mounting holes and its a little tight with the small swim grid but looks like it should work nicely!!
