Just ordered a 20' Clearwater ,5.7L, H 212. and need some help. Looking for places where a person can set-up a motor home with hook-ups and have a river boat launch nearby. Plan on only doing day trips up and down the rivers and some fishing. Paved roads to campgrounds with very little gravel preferred.
Some suggestions are Sagitawah in Whitecourt, Riverbend in Rocky, O'Brien Park in Grande Prairie.
Any others come to mind?
Appreciate the help.

U bet...this ones brand new in gp. The owner is brayden rycroft. The place is called riverstone golf and rv park. I don't have the num handy with me but u'll be able to find it np. The campground caters almost exclusivley to the jet boaters. Its. On the big
smoke and is good for larger boats. Its about 45 mins upstream to the hwy 43 bridge and another 45 upstream to the rat shack. Access to the wapiti is there also and the walley fishing is good anywere. U can call me if u need anythng else np I live in gp . 780-622-9278

Willy West campgrounds at Drayton Valley has 7 full service lots and the boat launch is right there. Head up stream towards Rocky then you can head up the Brazeau at the Forks, the Nordegg river gives enough water to venture up the Braz. aways.
Biev, where is this Riverbend in Rocky you are talking about. I was there last month and couldn't find an easy place to put in.

the park at athabasca is owned by Allen O'Brien , is there one at GP also?
regarding Rocky , how are you launching your boat ? with the motorhome? the Riverside campground is just north of town 2 miles on hiway 11 on the west side of the river, the boat launch is on hiway 11A , in town, 2 miles south of the campground on the gravel road, there are a couple places to launch, but you should have a truck

Taking the boat up with a 4x4 pick-up. The owner of the Riverbend mentioned that we launch off site, bring trailer back to campsite for the day if we want and we can bring the boat back to the campground on the river and park on shore, during the day. First time everything so it will be a learning experience.
My boat won't be finished until July 30 a delay of one week so Rob offered for us to use a loaner boat. I thought that that was a pretty awesome and we are taking him up on his offer. very happy with Outlaws good will jester. Very Happy Very Happy

Stayed at the Riverbend in Rocky Mtn. House. Large sites using the second entrance into the campground power and water only but owner will come by with a Mobil sewer truck to empty out RV's if requested. The private boat launch on site turned out to be a bit shallow so after one launch we used the launch beside the water treatment plant at the bridge. every thing turned out great and we enjoyed the North Saskatchewan River.

On to the Brazeau Reservoir and stayed at the Provincial Campground in Loop 2. Sites were pull through and would accommodate Truck ,boat and Motorhome probably a total of 90'. No services. Pavement right to the dam from Drayton Valley and only 1/4 mi of gravel to Park entrance. They are working on Paving the Sunchild road and hope to be finished this fall. Boat launch was great at the dam. All was well we didn't do the river just the Reservoir. Next time the river?

Off to Whitecourt and stayed at the Sagitawah RV Park and Campground. Nice campground with full services. They have some sites at the edge of their main area which are quite private and shaded. Recommend the outer sites. What a awesome boat launch and recreation area that is just down the road from the campground. All maintained by the local River Boat Club. Best boat launch we had on this trip. Had a great time on the Athabasca, meant some super people and just had a blast.

Last stop was the Town of Athabasca and the public campground right in town. Water and power only, had a large site the again fit all of the vehicles. Boat launch was right beside the campground a little shallow but very usable. What a change from the smaller narrow rivers. Enjoyed the river very much and had a chance to watch a black Wolf swim across in front of us. Zoom features on the camera sure help in keeping back a distance from the wildlife.
we had a great time in all these places and the weather was cooperative.
Please jump in and recommend some more wonderful places. we find that the services are becoming less important but the Paved roads are a must.
