From what I hear the boat was in the water briefly this past weekend, my lips are sealed on the performance #'s but everyone is pretty satisfied with the initial speed and handling. More testing and tuning required as any new hull / engine combination would require

WR, the nozzle seems choked; velocity too high vs mass flow... can you cut and open up the orifice, or swap to a larger nozzle? Might allow a bit more impeller/diam. Are you on the gov? Sounds like you have plenty of HP to spare. Congrats on the build!

that's sweet! I know it doesn't really matter in this instance. But is there much of a difference in fuel consumption vs. V8 ? Or does performance make up for it?

They burn more fuel but its cheaper, my 1600hp turbine is rated at 400kg / hr or about 125gallons / hr at full throttle. Very thirsty but fuel is $1.25 / L not like $4-$5 / L for Racing Gasolines

That's a SFC of 0.537 lb/hp/hr. Quite a bit better than a T-58.

T55-L-11B is almost as efficient as your Turmo at full throttle: 0.542 (~300 gal/hr @3,750 hp) but at 1600 HP it's down to around 0.700 (~160 gal/hr), slightly worse than a T-58, and at idle it still sucks down a minimum of ~54 gal/hr; that hurts. LOL

Not sure why you guys all want to gang up on Hellsgate but IMO he's a pretty smart guy and has alot of out of the box ideas to bring to the table. I hope his Falcon project makes it to construction and performs as well as it sounds like it may. There is so much opportunity on the current pump and hull design it takes someone thats willing do do totaly diffrent things to get an edge, I.E Greg Boise. I commend anyone that sticks their neck out to try something new and not follow the mass. Thats just my two cents

I think that everyone is just looking for a few sneak peaks to proove to us (not that he has to) that he is not just blowing smoke. There is alot of wanabes out there that can talk a good game. It is only that he came out of left field talking about how what he is doing or going to do will eclipse what has taken the rest of us guys years and years to do. Kinda like the guys that have said to me that it is just a water pump. I will just work the physics out and it should be to hard to be fast. We all have a little pride in the thousands of hrs put into the boats we run.
