Has anyone ran into any issues with a carburated kodiak 350 that is getting water in the oil. Its not glycol in the oil its fresh water, the risers don't have any cracks that I can find. But even if the risers were cracked I don't think it would get a lot of water into the oil pan from that? the engine was stored outside all winter but wrapped in a tarp, and the glycol was rated to -35C and the coldest it got here this year was -27C. There is no other fresh water that runs through the engine (to my knowledge) except for the risers.

That could be from a split oil cooler.

There is no oil cooler equipped on this engine.

How much water was there? Have you been running it since? Have you pulled the the spark plugs when you suspected the water infiltration, to see if any of them were rusty looking?

Need more info. Did you discover the water in the oil before running it? Did you check the dipstick before storing it? Is it a layer of clear water on the dipstick or is the oil white? Has the engine lost coolant? Coolant and water look the same in oil, coolant is half water. It could be a lot of things- corroded or cracked riser (common with stock Mercruiser ones used in saltwater), leaking riser gasket, reversion with a radical camshaft, a stuck or missing exhaust flapper valve, head gasket, intake gasket, cracked head, condensation, or even vandalism. Generally you proceed troubleshooting from least invasive to most invasive. Looking in the exhaust at the flappers and pulling the spark plugs and doing a compression test are early on the check list.

Riser gaskets on mine, it had trouble turning over as some water sites on top of the piston.
