I am thinking about building a new boat next winter, I have a 16ft Lynx right now and love the shallow water capabilities, the sportjet noise and load packing ability could be better. Anyway I am thinking of trying to build an 18ft that can still take a beating, UHMW, 8 degree etc but light as possible. Have been looking at 5.3L all aluminum L33 or 6.0L L76 all aluminum. I would want a durable pump that can pump gravel, have heard a few good things about the 3 stage Flo Pro. Let's hear some opinions. Thanks in advance

8.5" pump will lift more and have less maintenance .

What about the new 4.3l LV3 V6 that started going in the 2014 gm pickups. I makes around 300hp stock and all aluminum so should be light. Anybody heard of one going in a shallow water jet boat yet?

Can you buy a marinized version of this engine? If not, you problably won't see one in a new boat.
