I am headed to cranbrook and curious to where I could take the tomcat? I was told the Kootenay upstream of canal flats or st.marys? Anyone been?

You can put in at Wardner just after the bridge;run up to Fort Steele ...St Marys is on left;watch for other river users on St Marys;best not to run on weekends.You can run the Kootenay all the way past Canal Flats;flattens out in some places but some good back channels

ended up unloading at canal flats and headed upriver on the kootenay. Nice run, deep water and a beautiful river.

that looks real nice, are you able to run that river with a 20' firefish and a boat load of kids? where about did you launch if you don't mind me asking.

for sure you could. I launched right under the west side of the hwy 93 bridge, water was kind of low there and had to back out a long way to get off the trailer. Other than the odd stone sticking out and the few sections of whitewater (which you can easily skip beside) it was very easy run.
