I was wondering what type of synthetic engine oils you guys are using? How often you change it? And when the motor is broke in to use synthetic? I have a 350 marine with about 50 hours on it. Thanks

After breakin, synthetic oil is ok to run. We ruined one of our race engines by using synthetic during the breakin period, it never did make any compression to speak of after. We always run 20/50 either full syn or semi syn. Mobil makes good oil but i'm sure they all are good once you get into synthetics.

I've never had any luck with synthetic oils and now stay well away from them. Crying or Very sad I wouldn't recommend them especially if your using older steel blocks.

I use 15/40, never any problems and that is with a BBF at 5500rpm all day.

sometimes I do make the change to 20/50 but only when I dump the old stuff.

Heard nothing but good things about Synthetics from my car friends. I will likely try it with the new motor once its broken in.

YKX I'd love to hear more about your BBF and what you're running. Please email me and perhaps we can share some info?
Cheers
