Why so expensive? My zz383 has 120hrs on it and I paid $5000 for it.
I have sd 309 pump with a 9.5 impeller and it turns at 4500rpm. The boat
is a 16ft eagle.

Looks like Dawgs motor has forged pistons, Roller Rockers, Brodix cnc heads, wet manifolds, carb and other goodies with it. Making it worth a lot more.

Why do some guys run raw water and headers and some guys run heat exchanger and wet headers ? I like the heat exchangers, they seem to run warmer and more consistent....

Is there a difference in performance with kodiak style wet headers vs a through hull header ? Any advantages with fresh over raw water cooling ?
What's a good temp for a big block to run at ?
Thanks

Raw water cooling is the inexpensive way to go and is just as consistant if you use a water pump. But then there is a bit more winterizing to do and you get sand and small gravel running through your mills water jackets that you have to flush out.
Closed loop is nice because there is little or no draining to do in the fall, and your heater wont get plugged with sand.
thu-hull headers vs Kodiaks? do you mean lightnings? They are both wet thru hull exhaust. The lightnings will give you a pinch more power.
If your not running big HP then Kodiaks will be good.

Good temp is 150'-180'max
