Looks like you need a few gallons of Zep Industrail Purple (have to take into account of Tree Hungers or Greens) causing the racers to go to the extremes here.Do they take into account that this algee maybe caused by the over flow of farming drainage rich in nitrogen?? or run off of cattle and live stock?? or is it a natural caused event.See Blackwater 100 to much crap in the water at that event but never took into account that it was the same level or even higher year round. Its not like Lake Michigan and Zebra Muscle these came from Sea Ships that where blowing out thier lav bilge tanks sometimes these thing are man caused and some are natural Cheers

I like the way you think and you are dead rite.. Even the Water Foul can spread the Didymo through the rivers that we boat here in New Zealand..Wipe the stuff out i say and Bugger the Tree Huggers( fish can be released back in to the rivers).. Cheers JR Razz Razz Razz

Here is an link to a very informative article about didymo
http://www.issg.org/database/species/ecology.asp?si=775&fr=1&sts=
It appears to be a human caused transplant.........it's a northern hemisphere cool climate organism. Only showed up in NZ in 2004.

Idaho Guy your close enough to the Snake River I noticed this while I was in Marsing over Labor day. It suffers the same problem of this type of sea weed due to it having a high Nitrogen level from the local farms. How it got to New Zealand it would be more along the line of a Sea Ships and them dumping thier ballast tanks in harbor (The arrival of D. geminata in New Zealand in 2004 indicates that it most likely arrived via human-assisted means, for example on footwear, fishing equipment, boats, etc. (Kilroy, 2004).Its more likely that it came via a sea line Eastern Euro trash sailors have a long history of this practice see great lakes
