Midwet,
Are those angles for your loader cut to go down between the fins and then all welded together ?

Boy, if one of those came loose you'd be shopp'n for some pump parts ! Rolling Eyes Shocked

The loader on my sprint is the same way the grate was done in New Zealand and shipped with the boat.Pretty much a common thing Cheers Steve

AR
My boat is a '99 19' step tech, ZZ4, Berkeley intake, aggressor bowl. Todays new official speed is 73.9mph. Small gains, but gains are better than losses!
in regards to the shoe question, to help with loading, I will be shimming the grate down a bit at a time to see if it hurts or helps speed. It is supposed to help to a point where the drag introduced by shimming starts to knock speed off again. Tried a 7 bar grate with smaller bull nose piece today, lost a bit of speed according to my stinking liar of a GPS! Will try more wedge with the 7 bar grate tomorrow to see if that grate will work better. If not, the old grate will go back in and it's shim time.
Xero,
Here are some more shots of the Eagle grate I'm using. Might not be the answer for the lower H.P. boats like top dawg said, but I'm trying lots of ideas before the race !! If you want to go into business using the milling machine to knife edge the grate bars, I'm sure there are a pile of guys out west that would like to talk to you!!

I also have an "05" 19' step tech,ZZ4, Berkeley suction, aggressor 8 vein bowl, berkeley "A" ss impeller,Place diverter and a "teardrop" sharpened grate.
The seats are set back with in 10" of the firewall and the tanks are in the rear on each side. I'm turning 5100 rpm and running 73.3 gps. I'm in Iowa at 865' above sea level.
I thought my boat was just slow, I've been trying different set-ups all summer. I thought most of the Step-Techs were running in the low 80's ?
I had the intent to come West once or twice and try a race or two but I'm to slow to be competitive. Seems there's two of us ! Embarassed Crying or Very sad

AR,
I have rear tanks too, seats are still mounted 26" from firewall though. I have the mid length race nozzle and our elevation here is about 2500'. It must be the elevation difference that makes me run a B-cut to get 4900rpm, while your getting what you do with the A-cut and the place diverter. Supposed to be a 3-4mph gain switching to race nozzle, that will put you in the ball park.
My speed is measured downstream, full fuel with navigator. More tuning coming up today.
Thanks for the comparisons, good to have some numbers to shoot for!
