We are going up the Halfway river for the weekend but unsure where to launch (never boated it before) , is there a launch between Ft St John & Hudson Hope where the Halfway dumps into the Peace River ? How far can we expect to get without destroying the boat (17' , 175 sportjet , heavy bottom , teflonned ) . What kind of river is it ? I typically run the upper Wapiti , Kakwa , Murray , Narroway . Anything in particular we should watch out for ?

there is a launch about 20-25 min from the shell station at mile 54 on the way to hudson hope right where the halfway dumps into the peace.left hand side of the highway under the bridge. quite a bit more boney than the murray, but very runable.depending on water level you can go quite a ways up.

Thanks Tuchodi thats where we'll launch , we're wondering about how far we are going to be able to get before it gets too crazy (need to figure out how much gas to take), we boat lots of mountain rivers so we are experienced but have never boated or even talked to anyone who has boated the Halfway , what do you think 3-4-5 hours upstream ?

and the river has changed quite abit this year, lots of new channels.i know before it was log jams that stopped traffic.but you can get on the cameron(bout 45 min up)very shallow as of last week.entrance was only 6-7 ft wide and have to look for pools to stop or sitting on bottom.
