So I need to keep warm overnight in the Muskwa now that fall is upon us. My plan to install a diesel heater hasn't happened yet....I need a temporary heater, has anyone used a little Coleman catalyst heater? Are they safe? Obviously a carbon monoxide detector would be a good idea, any ideas?

Buddy of mine uses one all the time in his 15 ft with the top up. I was leery ,but as long as you don't have it sealed up tight it should be alright. He never leaves it running overnight though. I definitely prefer the espar, heat output and safety wise.

if possible park somewhere where the back end is in deep enough water to idle and let it warm up with top on then crack open up the engine cover, warms up under the top pretty quick.

Used one lots but never over night. They are a wetter heat so be ready for lots of moisture in the cabin and as said I wouldn't seal the boat up tight.

Hmmmmm, Ok well I might just upgrade my sleeping bag, I was hoping a little heat would decrease the moisture in the boat...thanks for the input guys.

You could put in a small wood stove with minimal effort. That would give you dry heat.

Did a 1000 mile trip in the yukon lived on the boat outlaw 20ft lynx. Why install more gadgets in your boat to kill your battery and risk carbon monoxide poisoning!!!
