I am wanting to buy a winch and have done some research. I seen the Honda capstan winch work and it impressed me. I like the idea of the Lewis winch and it would be multi purpose with use of your chainsaw when you need it. I am leaning towards the Lewis for this reason. Simpson winch looks similar to the Honda.
Im running a 21' Outlaw Clearwater and am usually loaded with the family and gear.
I would like some real world experiences and your recommendations please.
Does anybody have a winch they aren't using anymore and want to sell it?

I have used both winches a number of times and currently have a Lewis winch and it does a great job however if I were to choose I would go capstan mostly because it weighs way less and in a boat that matters and with a snatch block either one will pull any boat

| I bought the portable winch that's rated at 1500lb straight line. I use one pulley and it pulls my 16ft lynx no problem. This model has an all position engine so it doesn't need to be upright to run and keep oil pressure. I built an anchor out of a 2 ft piece of flat bar and pound 6 3ft pieces of cold roll through it. Works good

| I've only used it twice, once was just to test it and other time I was actually stuck, both on gravel. If you have an extra person with you to stand on the back of it works good. It wants to pull out of the ground if nobody stands on it. It cost 40 bucks to build.

I like this set up!!
How long are the stakes? And is that chain links welded to the stakes? Im guessing rebar could be used also for the loops on the stakes.

| The stakes in the picture are 4ft long, I went with 6 stakes at 3ft because easier to store in my boat, yes I welded a chain link to the side.
