i am breakin in a new engine this weekend. how should i do it? i was thinking about wedging the nozzle down, so i can get into the 2500-3500 rpms range without doing the nose to the sky thing. last time i broke one in i just spent several minutes at each of a few rpm ranges, like first 1000, then 1500, then 2k, then 2500, then 3000, then i got on plane and varied as much as i could from 3-4k then it blew up, so i never got to full throttle. 
was this a good breakin technique? i wanted to do some more on the trailer but my water pressure is so low i was afraid i wasnt cooling properly off the hose.
how much time should be spent running before full throttle is hit for extended time?
ps this motor is full roller 383 and has been fully built by the gurus at bearing services in p-town,
nodular crank/rods forged pistons. 9.35/1 CR |

| I don't think your break in had any thing to do with your motor failure, other than if it was too cold, check out this website, I do beleive what he has to say |
