Hi, I was wondering why I don't see jet boats with superchargers in them as I thought it might be a nice way to add some Hp? Is it for reliability reasons?

What kinda HP would that be?The comment the other day about Dale winning with 1/2 the horsepower Shocked Just curious what some of the #'S are Question and what diffrence in speed between Dale and the others are.I think Dale was running a 572 which I'm shooting from the hip here....is about 800HP before mods?

Arthur, my comment was referring to Dale winning the Riggins Idaho race in the Outlaw FX 140 boat which would be at roughly half the HP of the A class boats there. Don't know what his current Unlimited set-up has. Spencer told me his Sunset Shaker has over 1000 HP with the tunnel ram set-up! A customer of mine here in P.G. has a ex-race boat he uses for pleasure with a 8-71 blower on a 427 chev that turns a A impeller at 6000 rpm, don't know the HP as that is off the impeller chart and it hasn't been on a dyno. As for reliability it's not too bad considering that he runs pump gas, but he has lost a piston or two. Goes like hell, can't imagine what a unlimited boat pulls like!!!

I am running a 406 with a pro charger in a 19 ft steptec and it makes great power , on the dino with 7 lbs boost on pump gas 600 hp
alot of fun in a family boat its enough to put a smile on your face ,as long as you keep your foot of the floor boards not to bad on fuel

Arthur, talk to allblowdup (hence the name), he's running a blower on a big block ford in his boat.
No idea what kind of HP it makes but he knows alot about them.

Over the years there has been several supercharged and turbocharged boats. In 2007 you'll see Mark Cromies turboed KwikKraft at the Canada Worlds. Others have been Rob Chrunyk, blower small block, Donnie Smith, blower big block, Darren Arave, blower big block(AND zoomies), Justin Boice, Turboed big block. Because of the rules, these were all in unlimited class. I am sure there have been many others too, but before my time. Used to love how Donnies boat idled... rumph - aaa - rumph - aaa - rumph.
I have been hoping all these years to see a turboshaft engine in unlimited. It has been done, by a Mexican team I think, but also before my time.

Currently my boat is running with a 383 stroker, as I was interested in more power wondering about adding the supercharger or just changing it out to a big block. I had some concerns with how the big blocks hold up with the high RPM's these boats run although with the right parts in the right place would probably make a big difference. The boat is only in the low 60"s mph and I would like to have it around 85mph. I seen that "A" class motor that missbhaven has for sale and liked it alot, but it maybe a bit more than I need, is it still for sale? suggestion are appreciated. Thanks
